The application process is now open and you can apply to CEU for academic year 2019-2020. I remember how excited and even confused I was during my application. Lots of questions emerged in my mind, such as how to elaborate my ideas within the given word limit, how to ask a recommender, and how to improve my statement of purpose, and so forth.

This year the Danubius Award was awarded to Bela Greskovits, university professor in the Departments of International Relations and Political Science at CEU. The award was established in 2011 by the Austrian Ministry of Education, Science and Resesearch and the Institute for Danube Region and Central Europe (IDM). The prize was awarded at the Danube Rectors' Conference in Bratislava on November 8.

Erin Jenne, professor in the Department of International Relations, and Tamara Steger, associate professor in the Department of Environmental Sciences and Policy received the 2018 CEU Distinguished Teaching Award, recognizing their high standards of teaching, linked with the mission and institutional ambitions of CEU.

CEU has expanded its academic activities in New York in cooperation with Bard College, with second-year students in CEU’s MA in International Relations program studying with CEU faculty alongside internships at well-known international organizations. The students earn credit toward their U.S.-accredited degree.

Peter Balazs, professor in the Department of International Relations and director of the Center for European Neighborhood Studies, received the Knight Commander's Cross of the Republic of Germany in recognition of his significant contribution to German-Hungarian relations and the development of Europe. Balazs received the distinction from Lieselore Cyrus, charge d'affaires of the German Embassy in Budapest, in a ceremony May 24.

CEU alumna Ketevan Tsikhelashvili (IRES ’00) was recently tapped as Georgia’s new Minister for Reconciliation and Civil Equality.
Ketevan, 37, previously served as the State Ministry for Reconciliation and Civil Equality’s First Deputy Minister. Her experience includes work with the NATO Parliamentary Assembly, plus other international and research institutions.
Ketevan is a Ph.D aspirant in Philosophy and Social Sciences at Tbilisi’s Ilia State University, where she is also a lecturer of European Studies.
