CEU alumnus Ivan Lesay (POLS ’06) was recently appointed State Secretary of the Ministry of Finance of the Slovak Republic. He replaces Vazila Hudak, who became the country’s economic minister.

In his new position Jeff Le (POLS ’07) will help with the daily running of California Governor Edmund G. Brown Jr.’s Cabinet. Le, who earned an MA in political science at CEU in 2007, was appointed on June 5.

Tinatin Khidasheli, who earned a Master of Political Science at CEU in 1996, has been named defense minister of Georgia, the first woman to hold the post. She is also the first of CEU's alumni to become defense minister.

CEU earned the best rankings in its history in the latest Quacquarelli Symonds (QS) subject ranking, published April 29. CEU's programs related to politics and international studies jumped to 29th in the world, and 7th in Europe.

Hungarian economic weekly HVG interviewed Balint Misetics, PhD student at CEU’s Department of Political Science, activist and social politician on how he became involved with Hungarian politics.

CEU alumnus Alan Renwick (POLS ’97 MA, ’98 MPhil) has been named deputy director of the Constitution Unit in the University College of London's Department of Political Science. His tenure will commence in September 2015.

Hungarian news portal index.hu interviewed Anna Velikok, student in the Department of Political Science at CEU, about her initiative to place a photo of the recently assassinated Russian democracy activist Boris Nemtsov in front of the House of Terror in Budapest.
