An opinion piece in the Irish Times by Paul Gillespie has quoted results of a research conducted by Vera Messing and Bence Sagvari.
“Using survey data from the European Social Survey of 20 countries in 2014-15, they show that trust is the most significant factor explaining attitudes towards migrants.”
Vera Messing is a research fellow at the Center for Policy Studies since 2008 as well as a research associate of the Institute for Sociology at the Hungarian Academy of Sciences since 2004.

Each year, the U.S. Department of State honors individuals around the world who have devoted their lives to the fight against human trafficking. This year, Hungarian sociologist, human rights activist and former CEU researcher Viktoria Sebhelyi was named one of the Trafficking in Persons (TIP) Report Heroes, receiving the Hero Acting to End Modern Slavery Award.

Zsuzsanna Vidra, research fellow at CEU’s Center for Policy Studies, participates in a research project focusing on Countering Islamophobia through the Development of Best Practice in the use of Counter-Narratives in EU Member States. The project, led by the University of Leeds, received € 584,739.31 funding for the six partner institutions from European Commission’s Directorate General Justice and Consumers, and will run for 24 months starting in January 2017.
