The Institute for Advanced Study at CEU (IAS CEU) is pleased to invite applications for its fellowships for the academic year 2017/18.
The application deadline for all four fellowships is: October 24, 2016.
Calls are open for the fellowships listed below. Applications to more than one of the programs are possible but the application process and the requirements are not always the same.

This month, CEU's Center for Religious Studies and the Institute for Advanced Study at CEU are launching a new, two-year project entitled “Striking from the Margins: Religion, State and Disintegration in the Middle East.” The project seeks a nuanced and complex understanding of the transformations of religion in relation to related changes in state and social structures, most specifically in Syria and Iraq over the past thirty years.

The Fritz Thyssen Foundation has awarded a EUR 18,000 grant to the CEU Center for Religious Studies and the CEU Institute for Advanced Studies for their upcoming International Conference entitled Qurʾanic Manuscript Studies: State of the Field, planned for spring 2017.

Nadia Al-Bagdadi, professor in the Department of History, has been appointed director of the CEU Institute for Advanced Study (CEU IAS), effective August 1, 2015. With this appointment, Al-Bagdadi will take the helm of a very important academic initiative at CEU, bringing her vast academic and leadership experience to this role.

Hungarian weekly Magyar Narancs published an article about the history, importance, and financial background of the Collegium Budapest Institute for Advanced Study (IAS) that operated between 1992 and 2011 in the Buda Castle. The publication highlights its impact, especially in comparison to the recent institutions established by the Hungarian Government, such as the Pallas Athene Domus Animae Foundation.
