Since 2010, CEU has been celebrating Earth Day in a variety of ways from hosting sustainability fairs to planting a friendship tree in collaboration with the U.S. Embassy and CEU's home district mayor. This year, nearly 20 volunteers gathered in CEU's Japanese Garden to give the area a good spring clean by weeding, repotting and planting new seedlings and young plants for the Edible Garden.

As part of CEU's weeklong celebration of Earth Day 2015, students and administrators created a community garden at the CEU Residence Center. At the April 23 event, members of the CEU community planted herbs, edible plants and flowers in the green space behind the dorm, located in Budapest's 10th district. Coriander, chive, rosemary, basil, strawberry, corn salad, rocket, thyme, lemon balm, chili peppers, seeds of sunflower, dill, roses, sunflowers, and hibiscus were available for students to plant.
