Two months after CEU cancelled its annual reunion in Budapest due to Covid-19, alumni are reconnecting virtually during the university’s first-ever Online Alumni Reunion.
Organized by the CEU Alumni Relations Office, in cooperation with other units, Online Reunion is a unique month-long celebration of the university and its vibrant community of 17,000 alumni in more than 140 countries. From May 9 to 25, the program features a first-of-its kind Online Gala plus more than a dozen innovative online events and meetups.

The drive was commenced after CEU President and Rector Michael Ignatieff pledged $75,000 in support of student scholarships and urged alumni to follow his lead. Alumni donors matched the rector’s gift and surpassed it by more than $30,000.

Central European University attended the 31st EAIE Annual Conference in Helsinki at the end of September.
The non-profit European Association for International Education was founded in 1989 and it is the European centre for expertise, networking and resources in the internationalization of higher education. The EAIE Annual Conference is the largest conference in Europe with a focus on internationalization of higher education. This year, it was held in the capital of Finland on September 24-27.

We are deeply saddened to report the passing of CEU alumnus Artak Galyan (POLS ’10, Armenia), who died on Tuesday after a prolonged illness. He was 35 years old.
In addition to earning his MA, Artak was a PhD candidate and teaching assistant with the CEU Department of Political Studies, where he forged many strong friendships with classmates and faculty. His career achievements included stints as a Fieldwork Coordinator with the Institute for Political and Sociological Consulting, and as an intern with the United Nations Development Program in Pristina, Kosovo, among others.
