All CEU students have the possibility to register for the University-wide courses they consider interesting or useful. According to the Student Rights Rules and Regulations, " (...) graduate students have an opportunity to take up to four US/eight ECTS credits per year in elective courses from outside of their academic units without a formal approval from their home unit”. So even if your department did not cross-list the specific UWC, you can still take it.
1) Make sure you register through the CEU e:Vision Portal (SITS) during regular registration periods. To secure your place for UWCs held in the winter or spring terms, do not forget to register in the fall registration period already.
2) Look for the "University-wide courses" (UWC code - e.g. UWC5014) within the NON-CROSSLISTED courses block of your registration window. You will find all University-wide courses listed in this section.
Course credit information:
- If your department cross-listed the course of your liking, you may take it directly from your department’s elective offerings and it will count towards your elective course credits.
- If your department did not cross-list the course you would like to take, you may take the course as part of your 4-credit allowance for courses outside of your home unit. If you wish to exceed the 4-credit limit, please check your departmental handbook/policies on the approval process.
